Final cut pro x color load4/4/2024 ![]() It has control pucks in the center that allows you to move an image towards red, green, and blue. The color wheel is the classic, old-school way to digital color correction. This made it a game changer by adding color wheels, curves, hue/saturation curves, and support for LUTs. With this new update it greatly improved and expanded the tools and features of what Final Cut provided with color. Then on Dec 14th, 2017 Apple released Final Cut Pro X (10.4) a new version with the most significant changes being targeted towards color. Compared to a tradition color wheel the color board showed the same information but in a flat liner view as mentioned above. The only problem with this was if you have experience using photo editing or professional color correction applications it might feel quite foreign to you. The color board is a simple linear view of your color settings which makes it easy and intuitive for a first time user. In addition to the Color Board, now there are Color Wheels, Color Curves, Hue / Saturation Curves, and a new manual White Balance, amongst others.Since the start of Final Cut Pro it has always included color correction by allowing the user to use a tool called the color board. Enabling High Dynamic Range Color Science But before we get to the Color Wheels, let’s take a look at how to enable the other major new feature, HDR. And I’ll offer some cautionary advice about the color wheels, if you’re coming from other Color Wheels. Despite that, FCPX users have constantly asked Apple to implement Color Wheels and Curves as built-in tools. FCPX 10.4: Is All Forgiven?īack in 2011, when Final Cut Pro X first shipped, there was a YUGE amount of complaints: every basic task for importing, editing, grading, monitoring and delivering was tossed aside. Also, notice that the latest Mac OS version (High Sierra) is needed to take advantage of some of the new features (H265 export and 360 VR tools, for example). You need to be running Mac OS 10.12.4 (Sierra) or later to update to FCPX 10.4. FCPX 10.4 New Features: mainly color correction enhancements This means that two-thirds of the enhancements added in this update are aimed at Final Cut Pro X color toolset. This new update is packed with many new features, but the highlights are 360 VR editing, advanced color grading, and high dynamic range videos. In Mid-December of 2017, Apple updated Final Cut Pro X to version 10.4.
